This story completely freaks me out.
Totally aside from the question of Yeats's sanity or not, I do have to ask: is there are really good reason to assume that this woman is crazy, other than medication affecting the olfactory apparitions? I mean, Yahveh has a history of this sort of thing, and the people who follow his orders are considered saints and heroes of the faith. (Okay, that last one isn't a direct order.)
It seems to me that she's perfectly justified in thinking this is the sort of thing that might be required of her. :/ And if it had been any other religion, there'd be legislators calling to ban it and demagoguery for weeks.
And to make matters worse, my own union is on the wrong side of the Pledge of Allegiance case. Ah, well. I suppose if they'd come down on the right side, we'd have gotten called terrorists again. :(
