Does anyone else think it's weird that Bibleman is the voice of one of the main characters in the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon? I mean, this was in the early '80s, back when mainstream Christians thought D&D was Satanic. I guess Aames really needed the money?

Speaking of the D&D cartoon, someone (I think it must have been the Spouse?) pointed out that the evil!Optimus Prime from the Shattered Glass Transformers AU must sound like Venger, since that's what Peter Cullen sounds like when he's playing evil.
This caused me to think about what good!Megatron and good!Starscream would sound like. Now, Chris Latta didn't have a whole lot of range compared to some of the other voice actors he worked with - think about how similar Cobra Commander, Brainy Smurf, and Starscream all sound. So the Screamer probably doesn't change very much; possibly he sounds a little more like Wheeljack. But for good!Megs - wow, do we have options. So I have been amusing myself thinking about good!Megatron speaking in a pitched-down version of Welker's Fred/Ray voice.

Speaking of which - and sorry about the Obsession cropping up again here - but it turns out Latta did play the guest voice on one episode of RGB. Not one of my favorite eps, although it's the one in which the warning signal that something is about to happen (in this case, a human turning into a Toon, and yes, that's an awfully meta gag for an animated series) is that their pinkies disappear.

Date: 2009-05-27 03:14 am (UTC)I would be more than happy to run an RGB marathon or two sometime this summer. I tried ripping the episodes to my computer so I could hand the discs back, but this is not working out so very well - I think I'm going to have to start over when I'm not juggling so many dishes at once. (Besides, I'd welcome an opportunity to re-watch Season Two anyway - so much I hadn't seen before, and I need to take character history notes because I Am That Kind Of Obsessive Fangirl . . . .)
