Sorry, the Prop 8 homophobes are getting me down today, so I was listening to this song again. (I really ought to listen to "Legalize Our Love" instead; it's more of a happy pervert sort of song. Gods, "A Hundred Lovers" is such a good album. Why doesn't everyone know about it? Why does everyone think of this band as a one-hit-wonder?)

Anyway, I thought to myself, "Self, the instrumentation on this song is pretty minimal anyway; how about it?" And then I discovered that it requires C# and F# chords, neither of which I have. But I do have C and F. So I think I've worked out an arrangement that I can (a) play on the autoharp, and (b) sing along with, even though it's all a half-step lower than the album version.

Yay, my first arrangement! *is entirely too pleased with herself* Okay, I know that's really not a big deal, but I can't play by ear for crap, so I'm pretty happy about it.

*eyes "Legalize Our Love" warily* I'll tackle the one with actual, you know, instrumentation later. But I will play both of these songs on stage sometime.

Keep in mind that without Prop 8 we wouldn't finally have a Federal judge saying what we all already knew.

I, for one, am glad that intolerance has been laid out plainly in front of our country so we can all talk about it. Homophobia is a natural reaction for many, since homosexuality has been hidden, vilified, and distorted by the lens of religion and politics.

When I was my son's age there were no gay role models on TV, and no states that recognized gay marriage as a possibility. Feels like things are improving in fits and starts.
