Cute song, but I HATED that movie with a passion. Zaphod is supposed to have dark hair, two heads, three arms, and a gruff, coarse Cockney accent; he is not a bleached blonde pretty boy with a Texas panhandle drawl! Nothing against Sam Rockwell, mind you. He does a great job as Justin Hammer in the new Iron Man movie, it bears mentioning, if you have not seen it already.
Really? I thought it certainly had its weak points, but overall I enjoyed it. This Zaphod does have the third hand and second head; they're just not always visible - and having them always 'out' would have made his scenes effects-driven and gimmicky. And changing the accent (which was a brilliant mash-up of Clinton's drawl and Bush's put-on twang, I thought) was just one of those things that shifted between the different versions - the radio, TV show, and book all have different takes on the characters, and I didn't think the movie swung too far outside those boundaries. And I liked this take on Arthur, and loved this Marvin. (Then again, I admit I have a knee-jerk reaction to people who complain about the movie - all too often those arguments end up boiling down to them going "But Ford's not black!" and me blinking at them stunned.)
We saw IM2 a couple of weekends ago. I was neither disappointed nor impressed. I thought it could have done with tightening the action sequences up a bit and giving us some more character development, especially with Vanko. On the other hand, "I'm going to have to ask you to exit the donut" was worth half the ticket price right there.
I actually thought Mos Def was one of the few good things about the movie, now that you mention it, along with Marvin--then again, Alan Rickman provided his voice and that is always good. Otherwise, I still utterly dislike the movie. The BBC TV series will still always be definitive for me.
