Looks like the fire that torched a GLBT-friendly Presbyterian church was intentionally set.

Of course, the Right-Wing Hate Machine will claim it had nothing to do with them . . .

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to hear this kind of thing happening, but somehow, I am.

Here in the UK at least, nobody really seems to bat a lid at churches being GLBT-friendly -- the church I used to go to, the Provost was openly gay, and even ran a group for LGBT Christians.

Ugh. I mean I don't believe in Christianity, but you just don't burn churches down either. Burning down any religious symbol is just bad form. It's worse when the church is actually an accepting church like the one you linked. Good churches like those deserve to stay up even more.

There was a string of church arsons up here in Dallas a few months ago. They got I think 12 churches before the police caught 'em. They never said why they did it, only that they wanted to do it. It boggles my mind as to why people feel the urge to go to such an extreme for something as small as a difference in opinion.
