Well, someone is reading my stuff over on AO3. I don't have the phenomenally impressive hit counts of the popular authors in the big fandoms, but my Firefly stuff, in particular, seems to be getting noticed by someone.

Unfortunately, my hit-to-comment ratio is pretty miserable. This seems to be relatively common on AO3, which puzzles me.

Also, the difference in size between the very small fandoms (StarCon, Sneakers, etc.), the small fandoms (GB/RGB, Eureka, etc.), and the medium-sized fandoms (Firefly, in particular) is really, really obvious from the hit counts. Oddly enough, the two big fandoms I write in - Whoniverse and Trek - don't have much larger hit counts than Firefly. Maybe the Firefly fandom is hungrier for fic?

I think there is an optimal fandom size for getting read. It has to be large enough that people think to look for in consistently, but not large enough to get lost in the swarm.
