I hadn't realized exactly what the lyrics to "Only The Good Die Young" were about! I haven't heard the song since high school, and I had a much less dirty mind then. The song makes me strangely happy . . .

I also didn't realize that Joan Osborne's writing partners are the Hooters. No wonder she sounds like Cyndi Lauper sometimes . . .

One of the problems with the most-played music meme is that it favors the first few songs I ripped fairly heavily. That's the primary reason "Closing Time" was so high. Looking at what songs I've listened to most frequently might be a more interesting meme, although of course it would tend to favor the most recent things I've ripped instead.

I have noticed a pattern: I buy a lot more individual songs by female artists than I do albums. I haven't the slightest idea why. I hope it's not that I subconsciously am willing to give male artists more of the benefit of the doubt about a whole album, but I don't think that's it. I have quite a few individual songs from male artists, too.

iTunes is very dangerous. I've bought 31 songs so far, mostly '80s stuff that I don't want to buy a whole album for.

The Hooters played my college once... '88 or '89 at CWRU, IIRC.

If you're into Eric Bazilian's work with Lauper, The Hooters, Osborne, etc. you should check out Billie Myers "Growing Pains". In particular "Kiss the Rain" and "Tell Me" (though you'd probably also enjoy "Mother, Daughter, Sister, Lover" and "The Shark and the Mermaid".) Actually, while I knew his name, and had probably seen it in both the credits of Relish and Growing Pains, I hadn't put them together.

My favorite thing about St. Theresa, besides the nifty 3/4 feel, is that it was recorded live, not multitracked over a number of takes. The band moved into a house together to cut the album, from what I hear. And they got tight enough to pull that off. Amazing.

Yeah, "Kiss the Rain" is yet another celebration of monogamy, so I never really had any great inclination to listen to the rest of Myers's stuff. I might give it another listen on iTunes, although I admit I'm really not into her voice.

Yea! St. Teresa is an incredible song (but not the 80s, was it? Did I lose an entire decade?)

It's not from the '80s, but the Hooters are. (Sorry, I guess the connection wasn't as clear as I thought it was!)
