omorka | Dear Yuletide Writer (2009)

First of all, let me say that this is my first time participating in the Yuletide fic exchange, so if I ramble too much here or don't say enough, it's the inexperience's fault. ;-)

Secondly - thank you. While my fandoms aren't the most obscure in the list, neither are they ones that I find much fic for that isn't (a) half a dozen years old or more, in two cases, or (b) for a character or pairing I see the appeal of but have no investment in, in the other.

In the general sense, I like gen, het, slash, and femslash roughly equally well, so if you prefer genfic I will be delighted, if you write under-R relationship fic I will squee, and if you write smut I will bless your name, even when I don't know it yet. Whichever moves you is fine, although I do like smut to have either character development or plot or both, not just pure PWP. Angst or dark!fic is fine as long as there's a light at the end of the tunnel; it doesn't need a happy ending, but one still needs to be possible. Character musings make me squee, as do slice-of-life stories.

If you choose to write smut - and again, bless you if you do, and not a problem if you don't - generally speaking, most kinks are fine. I am personally fond of worshipful sex (whether D/s or otherwise), blowjobs, bondage, clothing fetishes, and hurt/comfort. My biggest squinks are bloodplay, non-con (although dubcon is OK if it's clear everyone had fun afterwards), and (and I realize this is kind of weird, so I apologize) unsafe anal sex (with condoms and lube it's fine).

On the specific requests:

1) Ghostbusters (movie), the Columbia Trio - Of the three fandoms, this is the one I'd most prefer a flat-out happy ending with, since the Boys In Grey suffered so much between the two films. I ship everything in this fandom, so any romantic or smut pairings you want to take a crack at, go ahead. My personal preferred het ship is Egon/Janine, and my personal preferred slash ship is Peter/Ray, but again, shippiness is not necessary if you don't want it, and if you do, you can ship Peter, Ray, or Egon with anyone and I'll probably enjoy it. Plotwise, if you want pointers, anything involving Ray's shop from the second movie (did he keep it? sell it? anything there he really shouldn't have had) or Egon's lab, ditto (did he ever make the connection between the experiments and the slime?) would be awesome, as would anything involving the minor bad guys from the first film (Zuul and Vinz, for instance).

2) Real Ghostbusters (cartoon), the Columbia Trio - Okay, this is the "tread carefully" one, because there's a high probability that my asking for smut in this one will trip your "arrgh, my childhood" switch, so again, let me reiterate that silly or plotty gen is fine with this one (I'd prefer plotty to silly if you go that route), as is PG het Egon/Janine romance if you ship that. So is smarm, if you like the epic Platonic bromance sort of thing; this is a great fandom for that. If you do want to wander farther afield, not only do I ship everyone in this fandom, it's not really all that far off to say the Trio + Winston + Janine = my OT5, so if you happened to be kinked for threesomes or foursomes, I'd be all over that. My one fairly serious request is that this not be pure slapstick - humor is fine, but I prefer the early seasons to the Slimer shorts.

One very minor point that's relevant to those last two: I perceive Spengler and Melnitz as Jewish by culture if not by faith, so if you do an actual Christmas story, please be aware that it will throw me if you write them as Christian. Not that I'll freak out or anything, just that it'll weird me out. (Especially movie!Egon.) On the other hand, if you wanted to write a Yule story with pagan!Ray, I would roll all over the floor in glee, despite there being zero support for that in cartoon!canon and not much in movie!canon.

3) Eureka (tv), Douglas Fargo - Let me start out by saying that Douglas Fargo is my favorite character from this show. Yes, even with Jack, Jo, Allison, Henry, and Nathan to choose from. I know, I'm weird. If you want to write him together with Julia, be my guest; I see him as so needy he'd take emotional or sexual comfort from just about anyone, so shipping him or slashing him with pretty much anyone will work for me (except for the underage characters), if you choose to go that route. I especially like playing with his family issues, the daddy issue in particular, and I'd be interested to see how that plays out with things like holiday celebrations or other places there would usually be family togetherness. This is probably the request that I'd be most okay without a happy ending for. But please, please, I beg you, if you take this one - treat my boy Fargo with a little bit of respect, and don't just make him the comic character that the Jack/Nathan slashers invariably use him as. He is that, he's silly and selfish and cowardly and sycophantic, but he's still a real character and it breaks my heart when people write him as the buttmonkey. (Also, if Taggart and/or Vince make a speaking appearance in the fic, I'd consider that a lovely bonus.)
