More on the HOLY FREAKING CRAP front

From John Deeth's blog about McCain's appearance in Davenport, Iowa:
Not that we didn't already know this, but: if you aren't praying in Jesus's name, the McCain/Palin campaign doesn't want your vote. And this is totally aside from the facts that (a) Buddha isn't a god in the strict sense, and (b) there isn't anyone named Hindu, be it a god, a prophet, a philosopher, a founder, etc. associated with that religion at all. I don't know if the preacher in question really is just that ignorant - it reads as if he assumed that every religion has a singular god - or if he meant to list Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims and got switched up in the middle. [I am assuming that the misspelling of Buddha's title is the blogger's.]
Between that and the whole Palin being blessed by the witch-hunter thing - religiously intolerant much, Republicans? This is starting to make Bob Barr look good by comparison. :-/

From John Deeth's blog about McCain's appearance in Davenport, Iowa:
The invocation is interesting, as I hear keyboards going all around me:
“There are plenty of people around the world who are praying to their god, be they Hindu, Buddah[sic], or Allah, that (McCain’s) opponent wins. I pray that you step forward and honor your own name.” Ends with “in Jesus’ name.”
Wow. McCain does not appear to have been here yet to catch that, but wow. The preacher’s name appears to be a Pastor Conrad of the Evangelical Free Church.

From failure to appreciate Your shape in every mind, no matter the words or shape, Good Lord, deliver us..."
A singular god named "Hindu" would fit with the Palinite view of the world, though; they're so caught up in monotheism that polytheism isn't even a concept in their world... and even henotheism makes them break out in hives. (To be fair, many Muslims have the same reaction, for much the same reason.)

I finally found a silver cross-with-pentacle that I liked in Salem the other day. Every time I see things like this, I'm even more glad I got it.
