Is the Lager Rhythms' version of the Gaudete Carol directly taken from the Steeleye Span one, or are they just both drawn from the same source?

Transcribed(-ish) from the Steeleye Span version, so may not be exact, but it's as close as I could make it.

(Sometimes I am original, but in that case, why mess with something that is already awesome?)

True enough; I was just wondering because, of every rendition I can lay my hands on (by iTunes or otherwise), only one renders the word "virgine" the way I would pronounce it in Latin (it's the Wild Oats' version, just in case you were wondering), and I'm idly trying to figure out whether the other variant pronunciations are derived from Steeleye Span's version, of it they're actually traditional. Most of the versions that take it at y'all's tempo get the "v" but leave in the soft "g", which confuses me even more. Not that it will actually matter, as I'm not planning on doing the Pagan Yule filk in Latin, but still.

Also, it's easier to sing it with a soft "g". Art clearly takes precedence over correct pronunciation! ;)

Strangely enough, I kind of enjoyed singing in Russian (and German as well). French, however? Eats my lunch. In my (limited) experience, even people who speak French have to muck with it in order to sing it. ;)
