Good news on the Who front!

I don't hate RTD, unlike some of the older and harder-core fans (also the Die!Tennants, the anti-Rose-ers, and those who think the Doctor really is asexual*, or at the very least isn't kinky enough to be into interspecies romance**). However, I do tend to think that Moffat is a better writer and has a better handle on the Doctor as a coherent character. Plus, Empty Child/Doctor Dances is IMHO far and away the best two-parter in the renewed series yet, and not just because of Captain Jack's introduction, although that's certainly part of my undying love for it - it's more the "Everybody lives!" moment, which is when I finally fully saw, in the deeply wounded Time Lord that is Nine, the magnificent, proud, gentle spirit that was Four. (See above about Moffat having a good handle on the Doctor over time, not just the individual regenerations as their own characters.)

*Seriously, though, Tom Baker had so much chemistry with anyone who happened to be on a stage with him that I never thought of the Doctor as being asexual in the first place. I suppose it's the "you never forget your first Doctor" effect again.

**Yes, this also means I believe that "half-human" is canon, too, and thus that his having a relationship with a human is, at worst, rishathra.

YAY!

I agree with you about "Empty Child/Doctor Dances", plus "Blink" may well be my single favorite hour of episodic television EVER. So again with the YAY!

This is the best news since the relaunch itself - and perhaps _better_ news - since it means the doctor's dark side/light side issues will be better explored. I still think "Girl in the Fireplace" is a great standalone Doctor story, although obviously many people out there hate it. For me this means Moffat has been batting 4/4, with no signs of delivering the phoned in scripts with lousy science that RTD seems fond of.
