Huckabee has apparently decided to go whole hog for the Evangelical vote, in some seriously bugnuts ways.

It would be nice if this was the wedge that finally split the theocrats from the plutocrats in the Republican party. Huckabee's serious enough on the theocratic side to be able to say out lout that they can't serve both Yahveh and Mammon forever.

With Romney's win last night, the fractures in the Republican Party now have manifested in three different winners in three major contests.

I think we're safe from Scudderism this time around, though.

Nehemiah Huckabee: "I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God."

Y'know, if he really and truly meant that -- that is, align our laws with the actual reality provided us by God/dess -- it would not only be okay, but totally in tune with American history. That's basically what Jefferson was saying, using different words.

Alas, he *doesn't* mean it. He doesn't want to use the living words of God, but the dead ones locked in the casket of bound leather and wood pulp called "The King James Version". (I wonder what he thinks Christians *did* before the Bible was finalized at the Council of Chalcedon?)

I think the Republicans are going to deadlock and have to broker at the convention -- and they may well split the party, especially if Obama is nominated. That's just fine with me. I can stand a libertarian Republican Party, or a paleocon Republican Party, or an actual Christian-Democratic Republican Party like they have in Europe, but this neocon-plutocon-theocon alliance is dying a very well deserved death.
