Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] bassfingers, who stole it from someone else:

Suggest to me:

i. A movie.
ii. A book.
iii. A musical artist, song, or album.
iv. An LJ user not on my friends list.
v. Something to do in the next two months.

(Random: why do things on LJ tend to come in fives, rather than threes? Has the Network adopted the Bavarian Illuminati's conventions?)

This is very cool. Now, if I could only come up with things that you haven't read/seen/heard...
Our tastes are too different, I fear, but I'll work on it. :)

  5. Decide on a major/focus for your graduate studies and commit to filing an application within appropriate deadlines.

Boy, you're recommending LiT right and left, ne? [livejournal.com profile] bibulb and I saw it with DG shortly after it came out - I liked it all right, but having seen Murray act that well in Rushmore already, I didn't find it too surprising . . .

i. Haibane Renmei (yes, it is an anime series and thus not technically a movie. Oh well.)
ii. Probability Moon by Nancy Kress
iii. Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater

I will have to think more on the other 2.

Seen Haibane Renmei already, too. Or at least as much of it as is legitimately released so far - I'm not much for fansubs. : )

Unfortunately, I think the problem here is that you see way more movies than I do, so I am not sure I can recommend something you haven't seen. Other than Haibane Renmei , the other anime we have really been watching is Chobits . Very cute and thought-provoking, even if it does celebrate monogamy.

A book, maybe more...

Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kinsolver.
I was entranced from about the 3rd page on.

Movie - I recently saw Bartleby starring Crispin Glover. I figure you may not have seen it, and yes, it is a re-do of the Melville book. Very interesting.

I am coming up rather blank in the LJuser category, but how about a community? Crochet is excellent, great motivation, and I love Linguaphiles. Both chatty, Crochet has lots of pictures, and best yet - it doesn't matter if you can't keep up. :) And another one that I'm not on, but keep thinking of joining, is Food_porn. Not what you think.

And since I know you have more than plenty to do the next few months already, and while I will add my support to the whole getting the grad school thing off the ground, I'll add something else...pick up and work on, even if it is only at Bagels, one of your unfinished needlework projects. You know you want to...
