Another One Joins The Crowd
Jan. 6th, 2004 09:47 pmThis will clear up a little of my initial confusion (sorry, lame pun):
AH does now have a LiveJournal: he is now
memeslayer.
In other news, I need to get a paid account soon. Some of the features are looking better and better . . .
But not right now. Our car coughed and fell over on the way back from EW and the Annoying M's wedding on Saturday; getting the transmission fixed, even with used/refurb parts, is going to run us just under a K. Which we, of course, only have about half of on hand right now. This means we either (a) borrow money from the Spouse's mom, which I hate doing and which she really can't afford, (b) borrow money from my folks, which I hate doing even though they can afford it and which will take time, or (c) bum rides off the MIL, DG, and PB until such time as we can afford to pay for it. (Current plan on my part is a combination of (b) and (c); the Spouse and I both get paid the middle of next week and we can live tight for a month, but we'll still need a little help to pay all the bills.) In the meantime, the Spouse is trying to get a credit card, which irks me.
Everyone's scattered to the four winds again. Ah, well, I still have my Guardian Angel (PB just called a minute ago, for no discernable reason except to have a quick chat). And DG, even if he is a bit Trendier-Than-Thou these days. And DM, when he bothers to show up. (Although I inadvertently stood up both him and
greeneyedpagan on Sunday, when I skipped Bagels on account of being sick. Ah, well. For him, I'll consider it karma.)
JG and DG, on the night before JG left for sunny Cali again, had a slice of the big-sib-little-sib conversation that I know I'll need to have with Brother Number Two and Little Sister someday. No parents are perfect. Still, hearing what they were saying, it occured to me that Dr. G will never apologize, because he'd never admit to having screwed up as a parent. I still am totally freaked by Daddy's having done it, but I guess having the guts to say "Boy, I really dropped the ball there, and I'm sorry" does count for something.
Everybody go see Big Fish right now. Really damn good movie, especially for those of us with Southern roots. Full review later, as I'm going to need to crash soon.
