Capri pants in general are one of those things that IMO you just can't wear if you're larger than a size 12. (Well, maybe for repainting the living room.) They're not designed to be flattering to anything but the most perfectly-proportioned of figures.
I have a few pairs of capri-length knit pants that I really like, and one pair of black capri leggings with stretch lace trim that I'm very fond of, indeed. But regular woven poplin or denim capris, I agree with you. And the addition of the cargo pockets Did. Not. Help.
Sometimes I'm completely taken aback by what people will put in the big-girls' catalogs and think we'll buy.
On someone AK's size, it might work, although the cargoiness would still irk me mightily. They're just this combination of tight and baggy that enrages me, and the light aqua color just emphasizes the contrast between the baggy parts and the tight parts. They make the size 12 model in the catalog look . . . not fat, but sloppy in a way that not even the velour sweatpants and hoodie manage.
