Comments: I suspect Wash is the sort to have Allies out there somewhere, but none of them seem to have appeared on the show. I gave him a couple of skills that we haven't seen him use but that appear to be prerequisites, or at least reasonable go-alongs, for skills we know he does have. 3D Spatial Sense might be slightly cinematic, but it makes the Navigation and Piloting skills much cheaper in the long run and fits with his sense of exactly where Serenity is at all times. This is more than I expected him to cost, and I sort of wonder whether he oughtn't to have another disad, but I can't come up with one that fits.

The non-canon novelization of the film links Wash to Mr Universe.
They were in school, Universe pulled a "Kirk vs Kobiyashi Maru," Wash caught him, and Universe agrees that he owes Wash.

I'd mentioned this to her in regards to the question of Mal's Contact Group vs. Allies.

(And that does also remind me that I need to get some more of the supplementary materials for the show and movie.)

He's panicky, jealous, and often severely paranoid. There must be a way to embody those as disads.

Unfortunately, there is no disad in GURPS for "Extreme Fidgetiness," or I'd give him that. Jealousy is a matter of role-playing, although it might be worth a quirk. And I don't read the paranoia off of him. (However, having just watched some of the extras, I have just realized that I need to give him a point in Shotgun, too - he uses one in the raid on Niska's station, and he even manages to hit someone.)

ack - don't understand...

These character sheets would most likely make a lot more sense if I had the remotest clue about how GURPS works. He seems to be one hell of a pilot, but he gets kinda panicky without leadership in a crisis - from the bits of the series that I have seen so far. He also seems to have loyalty to his wife far beyond what he does for the crews, or the mission. This is a wonderful and commendable trait in a husband, but perhaps not the most comforting trait to have in a crew member/adventuring party.

There's an abbreviated version of the rules that you can download for free from SJG's web store here (http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=SJG31-0004), if you'd like the short version of how the system works. (Or I could e-mail you a copy, if you'd rather not deal with their web interface.) GURPS Lite doesn't include everything, but it's enough to read a character sheet, etc.
