My mother once, when I was, like, eleven, asked me what the repeated chant on the coda of this song was. I looked it up on the album liner notes, and told her it was "Mama se, mama sa, ma ma koo sa."

She then said she wished I hadn't told her that. She'd been hearing it as "I'm standing on the side of the mountainside," which (as I pointed out) doesn't even have the same number of syllables.

But why did she ask if she didn't want to know?

This sums up a great deal of my relationship with my mother.

In an episode of "Whose Line is it Anyway," Wayne Brady sang "Mama say mama saw my moccasins." Even came up with lyrics that made the rest of the song about lost shoes, if I remember correctly. Had me bent over in laughter.

Yay! :D I didn't see much "Whose Line Is it, Anyway," but I really enjoyed the couple of shows I did get to watch.

I have, on more than one occasion, said "Do you really want to know the answer to that question?" when asked something I knew was going to cause pain. Occasionally, the answer is no. But usually, they say yes, then they get mad at me for telling them something that causes them pain.
I will never understand people.
I'm sorry.

Oh, and do not worry about the campout. You will enjoy yourself, I'm sure, as you are a very resourceful woman. Don't forget your yarn. :)

Am definitely bringing yarn. Am possibly bringing a small selection of seed beads - I need to learn how to do peyote stitch once and for all . . . .
