Wrong Time, Right Place
Sep. 10th, 2001 09:01 pmThis one's going to be short - it's already past nine.
Uneventful Labor Day weekend. Didn't get caught up on sleep as much as I'd like. Started brewing some thoughts about eros and creativity that aren't quite finished yet; they'll get racked here when they're done enough to taste . . .
This week is going to be half a wash at school - lost my sophomores in the Alg. II classes to ATMS (a TAAS pre-test) and will lose all of my Geometry students tomorrow. It's the 60-question version, which means I'll lose part of Thursday, too. And we test on Monday. *sigh* I'm getting the Algebra kids thinking, though, if slowly - feed 'em a little, then make 'em stretch.
Mr. B complimented my TEKS/objectives matrix. Apparently it impressed some of the other mucky-mucks, too. Was I the only damn person in the school who knew what they wanted? Or am I just the only one who cares? It's wasn't that hard to do right.
I finally got the CMA stuff filled out and mailed. I volunteered to herd cats for the Chanter's Chorus society again, and signed us up for Chant 101. I'm inviting some drummers to come to the society meeting, and I'm going to make as much of the D&D Society meeting as possible. Maybe we can make some real music around the revel fires soon . . .
Poly potluck was yesterday. I brought two loaves of homemade bread, of which one got mostly eaten and the other didn't get touched (*sniff sniff*). The movie was _Summer Lovers_, which I'd not seen before. All three protagonists are dumb as dirt, especially the guy, which made it a little hard to watch, but it seemed realistic enough in the relationship(s). I ended up talking with the Raven and R. about Pagan stuff for most of the potluck, although, given the state of our coven, poly is certainly interwoven there. I also ranted to the cute geeky guy whose name I can't remember about the state of the educational system for a while. Ah, well. At least I can protect my kids, at least for a little while.
