You'll Always Remember Your Proom
May. 15th, 2005 01:16 amWell, that was mostly harmless.
Didn't break down; barely got misty. Maybe it's the utterly artificial atmosphere of a formal dance at a downtown hotel. Maybe it was the sheer number of people, and the fact that a clear majority of them were not my students. Maybe it was that my feet hurt.
Observations, in no particular order:
1) I look better in heels than in flats. This distresses me, as I don't like wearing heels. But I look less grossly fat in 2" heels.
2) I can't dance in heels. I especially can't dance in waltz time in heels.
3) It's remarkably easy to shock my students. For instance, moshing on "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is sufficient.
4) It was entirely unfair of the DJ to play nothing that I recognized except "Greatest Man of Your Life," which I don't like, all evening and then play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "School's Out" as the last two songs.
5) Dang, my kids clean up good. :)

2) Hmm, well, at my high school dances, the girls always wound up taking off our shoes to dance anyway, since formal dress shoes suck.
