I've been playing with a combination of magickal oils and perfumery for a few months. Mostly I've been following recipes, and mostly what I've gotten from them has been nice, but not spectacular. I did make a couple of discoveries: first, that the combination of vanilla, rose, and sandalwood smells terrible on me, and second, that citrus and spice smells other than clove wear right off, especially if it's warm out.
Recently, due to the current, eh, situation, I decided to mix my second original blend. I based it off of one of Cunningham's incense recipes, but the basic idea is my own. It seems to work quite well for its magickal purpose, and I like the scent - very dark, with a sweet-bitter tone.
Courage Oil:
1 scant teaspoon jojoba oil infused with vanilla bean
10 drops Dragon's Blood scent oil (synthetic, as I can't find natural absolute of Dragon's Blood)
7 drops Oil of Frankincense
6 drops Oil of Rose Geranium
4 drops Musk scent oil (synthetic, obviously)
Pour into amberglass bottle in order listed. Cork tightly and shake to blend. Empower in the usual manner.
