Ugggghhh . . .

omorkaHad a sore throat yesterday, which was somewhat exacerbated by having to read the 3+ pages of directions for the Math TAKS Exit Level test. Made myself tea, and then discovered that there was no coffee machine - ergo no sugar - in the North house teachers' lounge. Drank it straight, which helped a little but didn't taste so good.
Our waitress at dinner last night is a student at the school. I think, although I'm not 100% certain, that I had her in my Geometry class for part of the year 3 years ago. That was a little uncomfortable; however, the service was good.
Continued to have a sore throat all evening; started having weird shivers right before going to bed. Checked my temperature - 99.5°. Spouse suggested that I call in; I pointed out that one is not supposed to do that during TAKS.
Woke up this morning at my usual time of 5:30 am with a temp of 100.3°. Called in, and stumbled around on the phone trying to leave messages for all the right people - to make sure they had a second proctor in my TAKS room, for instance.
Went back to bed and slept off and on until 1 pm. Got up and checked again - 99.8°. Still unusually high for me.
There's no way I can skip tomorrow - not enough subs to cover on Friday. So I'm chugging Gatorade like mad and trying to let my immune system do whatever it needs to do to deal with this. Hoping it's just a cold/flu bug and not strep.
