I know several of you have already posted it, but just in case anyone else hasn't seen it, here's a blatant but well-done emotional argument against Ken Starr's Prop 8 lawsuit:

The "Don't Divorce Us" video.

It was the high-school-aged girl that got me to tear up.

Con attendance: unofficial estimate, around 550 people - less than last year, but not by a huge number.

Games I played in: 3 (two by [livejournal.com profile] tfbretz, his "Heroes of the New Age" setting for Feng Shui and a light-but-fun smash-'em-up romp using the Marvel Super Heroes FASERIP system; one by [livejournal.com profile] b3zsgirl in Shadowrun)

Games I helped run: 1 (the Call of Cthulhu LARP)

Games I skipped: 1 (An unspecified World of Darkness game this morning - no way was I going to make a 10 am Sunday game after the LARP)

Games that didn't make: 1 (TC's Shab Al-Hiri Roach game - the only people who showed were me, him, and his girlfriend)

Lots of new faces, and a conspicuous absence of some old ones, at the Cthulhu LARP. Played members of a band in two different games. Almost nothing in the dealer's room I really wanted to buy; I bought one shirt from the Instant Attitudes table and that was it. Enjoyed the con immensely, even with some serious hiccups.

We ended up watching Eagle Eye, which was a disposable popcorn action flick, on Thursday. I enjoyed it, in a superficial sort of way, largely because I like Rosario Dawson as an actress and Billy Bob Thornton did a good job with the bully-on-our-side character. (And I have an odd fascination with Shia LaBeouf. I keep thinking someone cloned John Cusack and replaced his clever wordplay and comic timing with better physical reflexes. (Poor trade, IMHO.) Their voices are even pretty close.)

As a plot, it was entirely recycled - three parts WarGames, two parts Portal, and one part 2001. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing original in it, either. I did have two questions, though:

Cut for potential spoilers )
