You just need to stop reading stuff from these people. You know they are extremists and will say the same thing every time, ie women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, studying the Bible.
Open-minded people reading these things will not change the fact that the authors believe them, so I think the open-minded people should just save themselves the raised blood pressure and let it go unread. Ditto for discussing with said crazies. Crazy Christians will only bother actually reasoning with other Christians so it just makes more sense to let more liberal Christians waste our breath.
I understand your perspective, but choosing to ignore something/someone/some group that bothers me is counterproductive, in my case. It becomes worse, in my mind, than it really is, if I don't keep an eye on it. And I know there are lots of other people in my friends-list who feel the same way, so I will often post them for them to keep an eye on, too.
I haven't tried to discuss this with said radical Christians since my e-mail conversations with Sheriff Jim back in '00-'01. but those were remarkably productive, all things considered. However, he was a gentleman beneath it all, so perhaps I merely got lucky in my choice of nutjob interlocutors.
my opinion, ie not a directive
