omorka: (Dice Dice Baby)
Have been turning over an idea for a GURPS Fantasy RPG world. So far, it appears that it takes place in a fairly standard pseudo-European-Middle-Ages sort of setting. It is running more to the quasi-Arthurian end of things rather than the blatant-Tolkien-rip end, which is at least somewhat satisfying. I am trying to sort out the Celtic elements from the Gallic ones, so there can actually be some political intrigue, and I'm hoping I might be able to scoot it far enough forward in time to make it pseudo-Rennaisance rather than pseudo-Medieval; right now it's at High Middle Ages and steadfastly refusing to budge. I'm not a big fan of 7th Sea, but I find its feel refreshing compared to Yet Another Tolkien Pastiche, and this is easier to get into than either the SciFantasy of GURPS Jorune or the high weirdness of Talislanta.

Would still be interested in trying out the Palo Rojo School for the Unusually Gifted. Having played with the Feng Shui rules set, I have come to the dismaying conclusion that I would need to become much more facile with the rules set, probably by being a player in someone else's game, before I could GM effectively in that system. So I'd be running it in GURPS, too. *sigh* Still, I can find way of fudging the GURPS rules to balance grit and goof appropriately.

I really just want a gaming group. Even if it's only a once-a-month game.
