The Spouse's birthday party on Tuesday went very well. CS and GL reappeared, as they do about once a year; once again, I was at the opposite end of the table and didn't get to talk with them much. They've been invited once again to Movie Night. We had 12 people, counting the Spouse and myself, which is almost double what we had for my birthday. (Jealous much, girl?) The service was a little slow but otherwise spot-on - not as pretty as sometimes, but serviceable enough.

I got all the paperwork filled out Wednesday evening for CMA. We're adding the MIL to our membership, so if she needs to drop us off and/or pick us up, we should have fewer problems - plus, after the recent ugliness, she's wanted to be able to vote, and now she can. She's not Pagan, but she is a practitioner of the magickal arts - at least Tarot and gem magick, and some herbalism - and I think she might enjoy coming to a gathering one of these years.

I also got the copy of the "Universe" deck sent off to AH. We'll see if he takes that in the spirit in which it was intended.

The half-day on Thursday was even worse than I thought it might be. The specialists could easily have presented all this to us without our having to leave campus, and fewer of us probably would have nodded off (I was falling asleep, and that never happens). It would have saved a lot of money, too. That's probably why they didn't do it.

Movie Night was just PB, DM, the Spouse, and myself - and for a little bit, we weren't even sure DM was going to be there. I made the same brownies I made the week before (fast recipe) with the addition of a chopped-up Ghiradelli's milk chocolate bar and about half a cup of chopped dried cherries, at PB's suggestion, since we knew DG wasn't going to be there (he's visiting friends in Oberlin); it worked pretty well. We watched the first episode of Rah-Xephon, which misuses musical terminology terribly (it's probably funnier in Japanese) and True Stories, which DM hadn't seen and appeared to like quite a bit.

I lost the toss (actually, we never heard from Coach D, and DD had had to go to an ARD earlier in the day) and had to go to the team leader's meeting during my off period yesterday. The new science specialist prefaced the whole thing by telling us to think of it like going to church on Sunday, and mentioned at the end (in response to a comment by the English specialist about the next meeting being on Halloween) something about the faculty thinking the specialists were "witches" anyway. I was not impressed.

The migraine that started yesterday is eating my brain. I'll have to chug some acetaminophen or something before the Mabon ritual at the UU church. On the bright side, ritual means I bake bread, and it smells just lovely right now. I think a strong cup of hot tea might help as much as anything will.

I have a plan. I don't know if I have the resources to implement it. If I don't, I'll end up trying to play it out at Samhain, and that's not really the right place for that to start (continue, perhaps). Ugh. Messy. But at least it's solely on the pragmatic level right now . . .
