Scentbuilding
Sep. 13th, 2003 06:23 pmTwo recent creations, one a variation on the other:
Whitehall:
base: 1 scant t vanilla-infused jojoba oil
9 drops patchouli
6 drops jasmine
8 drops gardenia perfume oil
4 drops carnation perfume oil
Temple Heights:
base: 1 scant t vanilla-infused jojoba oil
7 drops patchouli
6 drops sandalwood
5 drops jasmine
7 drops gardenia perfume oil
4 drops carnation perfume oil
Interesting. Whitehall seems to linger on my skin longer; after a while, all I can smell of Temple Heights is the sandalwood, while Whitehall keeps both the patchouli and the carnation, and a little bit of the jasmine, for a long time.
I can't find a wisteria scent oil at all, much less one that I like, so Waverly is going to have to wait. I had found, a long time ago, a magnolia that I liked, and if I can find it again that'll become part of Snowdoun. Rosedale will have to wait until I can afford true rose absolute, as this fake stuff is gettimg me down.
Hmm . . . if I name all my own blends (the perfume ones, not the magickal ones) after antebellum homes, I'm going to have to pick up some Pilgrimage stuff . . .

And Finally, the Real Update
Sep. 13th, 2003 06:38 pmDammit, we lost Warren Zevon and the Man In Black in the same week. This has not been a good year for entertainers.
The situation with the Spouse has sprung an unexpected twist: I'm going to need us to be in a larger house/apartment/living space very shortly. Well, we knew this was coming, but it's maddening all the same. We are apparently both going to need "private space" for this to work out - just arranging to be separate in time isn't sufficient for his nerves.
And that was a really bad way to find out. I'm getting sick of his playing at powerlessness while he's holding all the cards, but forcing him to play them is really, really unpleasant.
I know what I need to do. But knowing and doing are two different things.
