Still Night
Jun. 13th, 2003 04:05 amMovie Night didn't really happen. M called at about 7:30 and said he wouldn't be leaving work for another hour, so he and EW weren't going to make it. We already knew PB was going to be way late if he showed at all. So we were settling in doing other things.
Then someone knocked. DG finally dropped by! So we sat around and chatted with him. PB eventually showed up, but we never actually put a movie on. I rather prefer the whole sitting-around-and-chatting bit anyway.
After the Spouse's whole bit about how important Movie Night is to him, I was a little surprised he took everyone ditching so well. Not that I think he's not being honest about its importance, but it does seem like it's only what I do that can screw it up for him.
DG is not terribly pleased about being back in Houston. He's away from almost all his friends, and having experienced something else, he's not really keen on Houston's climate, either. He's still planning on going the teacher's certification route, but he probably isn't going to be sticking around too long once he's got his certificate - once he has a salable skill (and secondary science is certainly salable), he'll be looking for somewhere else to practice it. I hate to see him go (another friend fled), but at least he'll be around for a while before that. He's looking for a part-time job he can hold down while he does his certification; he'll probably look into doing the museum again.
PB had just come from a training session, with bruises to show for it. He gets to train rarely enough that he really throws himself into it. I have a hard time imagining throwing myself into any physical pursuit (with the possible exception of sex) with equal vigor. And this after he maneuvered A's dishwasher upstairs (gods, I have to start finding out some of these A's last names; they're getting confusing).
Countdowns:
6 days until DM gets back
8 days until Order of the Phoenix comes out
13 days until my birthday
56 days until teacher report date for the '03-'04 school year
among others . . .
