omorkaOperation: Dump the Chump is complete, and now I really do need another political icon. I'd say "our long national nightmare is over," but in fact we'll be cleaning up the mess for decades.
But that's what Gen13 does, isn't it? Clean up messes we didn't make, so the Millenials can go out and save the world. And they'll get the glory, too. But it has to be done, and no one will mop up if we don't.
Speaking of Gen13 and the Millenials, Obama's speechwriter has clearly read Strauss and Howe. It was a damn good speech. I especially liked the lines "We will restore science to its rightful place," and "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus - and non-believers." I'd've preferred an "and many more besides" in that last one, but including a non-Abrahamic faith and the nonbelievers is a great leap forwards.
