Checking In

Here's the basic situation:
Electricity: no
Water: yes - but pressure is low, and no hot water
Sewer: yes
Gas: yes
Phone: yes - land line is fine; cells work put are spotty
Internet: dialup/cell phone dataplan only
Anyone has the number and wants to call the land line, be my guest.
We had three leaks during the storm itself, two on the north end of the apartment that stopped once the rain stopped coming sideways, and one in the sunroom that looked like it was a roof leaf (that being the only place where our apartment has a roof directly). The handyman knows about the leaks, but obviously can't do anything about them yet. Otherwise, we have structural integrity. Our car is fine, as is the Spouse's mom's car.
Since the gas is working, we can at least heat canned food and boil pasta. Hopefully, if we don't have power yet in a couple of days, we'll at least be able to buy fresh food somewhere - otherwise we're going to be damned sick of pasta and beans. I have only half an onion left, but enough garlic for a few days; plenty of olive oil, two baking potatoes, lots of canned and dried beans, canned tomatoes and tomato sauce for a while, peanut butter, tons of pasta. So even if the grocery stores aren't open, we'll eat okay. I made black bean and corn soup for dinner with the other half of that onion; it's not great, being vegetarian of necessity, but it's food and it's filling. Also, I have two bags of meringues that I made last night in a fit of domesticity. (Don't ask.)
So, TL;DR: We're too warm but fine, and we're not in any danger. Land line is better than cell if you want to chat us up. Love y'all, and stay safe!
