omorkaOn the one hand: how in the Hell (yes, Christian version) could Prop 2 actually pass? Did no one notice how poorly written this thing was? I mean, it was practically a threat to the institute of marriage all by itself! Dudes, if your heterosexual marriage is threatened by the nice gay couple next door getting a legal certificate that says they can visit each other in the hospital after hours, then you have much bigger problems than a constitutional amendment can fix. (And we're going to see what this thing does to common-law - some lawyer's gonna have a field day . . .)
On the other hand:
- They shot their wad a year early. In particular, DeLay's gonna want an issue that will bring out the Rad-Righter Bible-thumpers to his defense next year, and so will whoever the Republican gubernatorial candidate is. They'll have to think of something else, and probably something much less effective. They have effectively now spent their best source of fear.
- With the exception of the Kansas SBoE, all the rest of the national news was bad for mine enemies. Shadenfreude is sweet even served lukewarm.

The Spouse was describing, on the drive home, how a particular nutcase was complaining about people who only drive at five miles above the speed limit. This lead us to a discussion of Bad Drivers We've Known, and People Who Punish Bad Drivers By Acting All Crazy And Shit.
Shortly after the conversation wound down, the Coca-Cola truck in front of us turned left on a red light.
