Some things don't change
Oct. 8th, 2005 12:09 amMy mother once, when I was, like, eleven, asked me what the repeated chant on the coda of this song was. I looked it up on the album liner notes, and told her it was "Mama se, mama sa, ma ma koo sa."
She then said she wished I hadn't told her that. She'd been hearing it as "I'm standing on the side of the mountainside," which (as I pointed out) doesn't even have the same number of syllables.
But why did she ask if she didn't want to know?
This sums up a great deal of my relationship with my mother.
