Merry Giftmas!
Dec. 25th, 2004 10:27 pmWe did the gift exchange with
quantumduck,
bassfingers, and their respective familial units last night. I was reasonaply pleased with everyone's reaction to their gifts, especially AK's - while it's always a risk giving someone something handmade, I was pretty sure she would like it, especially since she does fibercraft herself.
bassfingers got me the Zuzu's Petals CD, which, while not entirely unexpected, was very, very thoughtful of him.
quantumduck and AK gave me an ammonite fossil that still has its nacre (utterly beautiful; I'll try and get a photo in sunlight to post) and a quartet of amazingly powerful hematite magnets. Very cool!
Spouse and I did gift exchangw when we finally got up today, which was well after noon. Oddly enough, he hadn't gotten any of the things I had been expecting, or had hinted at, or had dropped (I thought) blatant suggestions for. However, he did find some very cool stuff, the highlights of which were the soundtrack to The Last Starfighter and a pair of Eyebeam books! He also, apparently, wasn't expecting me to get him what I got, although quite honestly I though only one of the items (a set of the Narnia books) should have been a surprise.
We still need to do the gift swap with the MIL, with PB, and with
memeslayer and DM, although I need to finish baking the second half of PB's gift tonight, and I'm probably not going to have the last part of DM's for a while, either, so it's probably best that we haven't seen them yet.
And I'm making a hat for one of my students. Very silly of me, yes, but I saw the yarn and it was a shade of green that reminded me so much of Hyper. Since I also ordered Third a book, I'll just find a way to pull them aside during a chess club meeting or something . . .
