Dangers of dishes
Nov. 15th, 2004 05:33 pmLast night, PB and L dropped by to chat right around the time I was cooking dinner. I had been planning on grading, but I felt like I needed to at least make a token attempt at being sociable.
When I went back for seconds, I managed to drop my plate from chest height, edge down, on my left foot, right on the knuckle at the base of the big toe. Fortunately, neither PB nor L seemed to be too terribly deafened by the scream, and PB has a pretty high First Aid skill. Grading did not get done.
I did manage to go in to work today - I could put weight on the foot, at least. It's swollen and a lovely red-and-purple shade, and wearing shoes (even very loose ones) made it worse, as did standing on it (even though I tried not to stand up to the extent possible). The Spouse very kindly came and picked me up right at the end of school; I don't think I could have gotten anything useful done there.
Right now I have it elevated, which seems to be keeping the swelling down. Otherwise, though, this is really sucking.
