Hey, Omorka.

What kind of math did you study, and what do you teach? I was on my way to being a math prof once, but dropped out after getting an MA. I spent a year preaching the gospel in Kansas before joining a financial firm in Boston. I concentrated in combinatorics and graph theory, but also had fun with fractals, topology, and real & complex analysis.

I thought you had an interesting pov in our discussion on Kristen's LJ, so I'm adding you to my friends list.

I currently teach Pre-AP Precalculus and AP Statistics at a poor, urban, ethnically mixed high school in the Houston metro area. I have previously taught Geometry and Algebra II at the regular and Pre-AP levels at the same high school.

In college, I was focusing on topology, with side interests in non-Euclidean geometry, fractals, and general chaos theory, but it kicked my ass and I drifted into cognitive science instead, which is part of how I ended up teaching.
