I think I finally caught whatever it was that the MIL had last week. At least, my throat is sore and I was vaguely nauseous when the Spouse tried to wake me up for temp-Bagels. (He let me sleep a little longer.) To add insult to illness, we really, really need to go grocery shopping.

PB dropped by yesterday afternoon to give us our TMBG collection back (finally!). Spouse was out running an errand for his mom, so P and I just talked a bit about teaching and learning, especially for "doubly exceptional" (gifted and learning-disabled) students. I never fail to be surprised by how well he and I can actually communicate, considering that I know his basic level of cognition doesn't resemble mine in the slightest. I guess sharing a profession helps.

We were going to try and do grocery shopping yesterday evening, but by the time we'd gone out and had dinner (and the more I get to cook for myself, the less satisfying our usual dinner spots are becoming), it was late enough that I was worried the produce would be worse for wear for the day. Around that time, [livejournal.com profile] wren_chan called, so we picked her up. Spouse showed her 24 Hour Party People, some of the Polyphonic Spree, and the first two episodes of Dai-Guard, the last of which I wandered in for. At that point, both she and the Spouse were hungry, so we shuttled off to Taco Cabin.

There were twenty million people at the Taco Cabin at 3 in the morning! Okay, technically it was probably closer to eighty than to 20 million, but still, it was bizarrely crowded. It was also a demographically odd crowd - almost all late college or just post-college aged, dressed anywhere from very casual to club attire, and ethnically mixed but largely southern- and southeast-Asian. Oh, and very, very loud. But mostly not drunk, which was somewhat odd for the hour. I'm guessing that the entire clientele of some bar or dance club decided to head there for fajitas and 'ritas when the club closed, but I have no guesses as to which club - it certainly didn't look like a Black Swan crowd (way too young). Having to talk over them the whole time didn't help my throat, either.

Argh. Hot tea. But not until after sunset, I think. I still haven't gotten a call from the AP Institute people, so I don't know if I'm going to need to be there tomorrow morning or not. I'm trusting that they'll call me tomorrow if they have a slot open, and we'll see if I'm in any shape at all to crawl out of bed.
