Movie Night

omorkaA bit crowded tonight - E&M actually showed up (for once), although they didn't stay for the whole movie; also had PB, his girlfriend L, and ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
wren_chan (and the Spouse, of course). We watched Apollo 13, which I hadn't seen yet and was vaguely disappointed by, although I can't quite put my finger on why. Probably the Junior Spielberg Heartstring-Tugging that Ron Howard seems to be fond of - the blatant tearjerks that Spielberg tends to get from character conflict and resolution, Howard tries to pull off primarily using the score, at least in this one. That's not the score's purpose; it underlines and highlights, not produces in its own right, in a film.
I baked a cake (plain yellow cake with a dollop of chocolate batter in the center, with a chocolate drizzle over the top) in the sunflower pan I bought myself with my birthday money. It came out all right; I found it disappointingly bland, although M seemed to enjoy it quite a bit.
DM didn't show, and has not yet called me back. I should text him at some point this weekend, I suppose. I'll have my calculus book by Tuesday evening one way or another.
9 rounds to go on the hat (squee!). Unfortunately, UPS has decreed that my package will not get here until Monday, which doesn't leave me much time to futz with the beadstuff. I also discovered that I have a dreamcatcher that I started (wrapped the hoop in leather) but did not finish, and the parts for a second one. That's going to have to wait as well.
I think I shall make soup for tomorrow. I just need to figure out if it will be turkey, kale and chorizo, or chard with ground beef. Ah, small decisions . . .
