Stuck in the '80s Again
Apr. 2nd, 2004 10:19 pmI hadn't realized exactly what the lyrics to "Only The Good Die Young" were about! I haven't heard the song since high school, and I had a much less dirty mind then. The song makes me strangely happy . . .
I also didn't realize that Joan Osborne's writing partners are the Hooters. No wonder she sounds like Cyndi Lauper sometimes . . .
One of the problems with the most-played music meme is that it favors the first few songs I ripped fairly heavily. That's the primary reason "Closing Time" was so high. Looking at what songs I've listened to most frequently might be a more interesting meme, although of course it would tend to favor the most recent things I've ripped instead.
I have noticed a pattern: I buy a lot more individual songs by female artists than I do albums. I haven't the slightest idea why. I hope it's not that I subconsciously am willing to give male artists more of the benefit of the doubt about a whole album, but I don't think that's it. I have quite a few individual songs from male artists, too.
iTunes is very dangerous. I've bought 31 songs so far, mostly '80s stuff that I don't want to buy a whole album for.
