1) I desperately wanted my ears pierced, to shop for frilly clothes, and to be ale to wear lip gloss, in third grade.
2) My mother tried to teach me piano three different times during my childhood; I'm the only one of the four sibs who doesn't play.
3) I had convinced myself I was asexual between age 12 and age 15. (Perhaps unlearning this was a mistake . . .)
4) My politics were essentially Libertarian until college had a chance to sink in on me; I voted for the Libertarian candidate (whose name I don't even remember) by Mississippian absentee ballot in 1992.
5) I won one of the two top awards for Best Senator in the Mississippi YMCA Youth Legislature in 1992, and started a family tradition (two of my three sibs have followed; the older of my two brothers actually became Speaker of the House for YL).
