If anyone in the greater Houston area would be interested in playing in a face-to-face GURPS Special Ops game (with a touch of Conspiracy Theory), I have banged this thing into enough shape to issue an invitation.

Here goes:

--

The time: if Max Headroom is 20 minutes into the future, this is 10. Corporations haven’t eliminated government for good yet, but they’re getting close.

The place: Houston, TX, home to major energy and technology corporations. A city run even more by money, greed, and graft than the rest of the world . . . jobs are scarce, especially for those just leaving college or those who have been downsized in the latest economic dip.

The following advertisement appears in the classified ads of every alternative, college, music, or art newspaper or weekly rag in Houston (although not the Chronicle).

Interested in starting a new career, with excitement and good pay?

Looking to escape a past career filled with disappointment (or disillusionment)?

Setec Security is looking for those who might not have normally given the corporate security industry a try, but are ready for second chances. We’re hunting for 3-7 individuals who have guts, brains, and that extra spark.

Computer expertise, previous military experience, and/or information technology and retrieval experience preferred but not required.

Fax or e-mail resume to Robert Bryce at 713-XXX-YYYY or rbryce@info.setec.com for an interview.

Your job, if you choose to accept it: create a character who responds to the want ad. (Those who know GURPS already, 100 pts, border TL7/TL8. If you don’t know the system, write up a character concept and we’ll transfer it to the GURPS point system once the character’s nailed down.) Also, let me know when would be good/bad times to game for you. You can reply as a comment to this posting or e-mail me at the livejournal address (it gets through to me fine) or my regular e-mail (if you already have it).

Wow. That sounds really, really interesting... I've afternoon classes mondays and thursdays, but my weekends are to some extent negotiable except when Carol needs me for stuff... I'll have to think about the character, tho.

If you're interested in trying anyway, Wednesday night is possible for me if it doesn't screw with other people's schedules. Tuesday night might be negotiable.

Ben Schlitt & I are expressing an interest, though there's of course the time constraint issues

What sort of time contraints do you have that are work-aroundable?

Ben Schlitt here,

My schedule is often relatively in flux so it is best if any character I have can come and go. What I will say is that I favor weeekdays over weekends as I tend to work all weekends. I tend to have access to my schedule every weds for next week.

I, at least, would be interested in playing, Moontyger may as well but I'm not to certain. My schedule cycles though, one week I will work Mon/Tues/Sat/Sun, the next i will work Wed/Thurs/Fri. But I'll try to do what I can to fit in with other peoples schedules.

As far as a character type goes I will have to give it a little more though I'm afraid... I'll let you know in a few days if thats ok.
