Spouse and [livejournal.com profile] wren_chan went to see HP3 again tonight. I ended up deciding to split the party and go see Mean Girls (although, [livejournal.com profile] moontyger, if you're still interested, Spouse still wants to see it, and I wouldn't mind seeing it a second time).

Oh, I know these kids. It doesn't hurt that the calculus teacher, played by Tina Fey, is a reasonable substitute for me. Or that the "mathletes" are my kids. Or that I know every one of those cliques, either from my home high school or Ramton or both. (Thank the gods for MSMS. At least the cliques there were based on things like common interests rather than appearances.)

"Sexually active band geeks." Hee.

Lizzie Caplan and Rajiv Surendra are now officially my Young Actors to Look Out For. Kevin Gnapoor is very, very close in feel (although not in any specifics) to this year's valedictorian/Mu Alpha Theta president. Daniel Franzese singing Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" reminded me of He Who Ain't Got No Feet in a sick and twisted kind of way . . .

Tim Meadows now joins Orlando Jones and Will Smith in my twisted-by-a-Southern-upbringing "Mmm! Chocolate!" actor list.

Nitpicks: the math class the main character is taking is supposed to be Calculus, but everything they cover - all the topics they see - are Pre-AP Precal topics. We covered them all this year. I think there was an integral sign on the board once. The limit problem she's given at the end actually isn't difficult once you realize you can just substitute - it's the limit as x->0, not as x->infinity. You get -2/0, which is an automatic "limit does not exist at that value."

Overall, a strong B movie, and pretty damned good for a teen flick. Everyone who made me watch The New Guy is sentenced to watch this - if I get subjected to your music geekery, you get to be subjected to feminist fluff.

Oh, and the Donnas do a cover of "Dancing With Myself" over the end credits. I may have to get the soundtrack . . .

Moontyger and I are definitely still interested in seeing the movie. We would just have to find a time that we could all go see it. I will be working Wed-Fri this week. Which means that Tues-Thurs nights are probably not the best, but if you had a time in mind I'm sure we can try to work something out.

Hmm . . . Spouse has a lighting gig on Friday evening, although if y'all would be up for a late showing (like, after 10) we could try it.

There's a Bi-Peds show on Saturday, so that's out for us. Will you be free on Sunday, or are you working that evening?

Hmm, late Friday I think would be better. So if we can find a place showing it 10ish on Friday I think that sounds like a plan. I'm really not at all familiar with the theaters in town so not sure what a good one would be.
