I left that part out - silly me.

Counseling the Gifted and Talented, ed. Linda Kreger Silverman. This thing is actually fairly small for a college textbook - because there hasn't been nearly enough research on the topic. Even so, reading this thing is like having random bad people from my past step up out of nowhere and slap me across the face.

"Oh, yeah, I remember that. That sucked."

"Ah, that's happening to the ADHD Kid and the French Horn Kid right now. Ouch."

"Oh, so that's what's been wrong with me for all these years! Damn."

Etc. . . .

The truly awful thing is realizing that no one else in my district has read this. No one. Not even our building GT coordinator. Not even the district Special Populations coordinator (who is too damn busy with SpEd to pay much attention to GT). Not even the GT elementary pull-out teachers. Certainly not any of the building counselors. No one. And this is really the only textbook out there for this.

The only bright side is that the one-on-one counseling techniques are extremely compatible with Cognitive Coaching. I guess I'm glad I did that first.
