The rules are the same as the 20 random song lyrics game, except that this time the poster picks the 20 favorite songs on his/her playlist.

In no particular order:

1) One minute you're waiting for the sky to fall; the next, you're dazzled by the beauty of it all. ("Lovers in a Dangerous Time," Bruce Cockburn, [livejournal.com profile] bassfingers)

2) In the autumn, it was winter's watch I was keeping, and the world was brown and gold. ("I'm Fine," Patty Larkin, [livejournal.com profile] bibulb)

3) When you put all the love in the world on a chip, it gives me the creeps and the Freudian slip. ("Cover Up," Michael Penn, [livejournal.com profile] bibulb)

4) Just hold my hand while I come . . . to a decision on this. ("Save It For Later," originally by the English Beat, covered by Harvey Danger, [livejournal.com profile] follybard)

5) Breathe into my hands; I'll cup them like a glass to drink from. ("Glass Vase Cello Case," Tattle Tale, [livejournal.com profile] bibulb, and this one was a bit of a toughie)

6) Etch out a future of your own design, well-tailored to your needs. ("Windpower," Thomas Dolby, [livejournal.com profile] quantumduck)

7) Hear my words; they're the ones you would think I would say if there was a me for you. ("Ana Ng," They Might Be Giants, [livejournal.com profile] follybard)

8) And love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves ("Under Pressure," David Bowie and Queen, [livejournal.com profile] bibulb)

9) No day, no night, no moment can hold me back from trying; one flag, one fall, one falter - I'll find my day, maybe. ("Book of Days," Enya)

10) There's a storm off in the distance - I can see the lightning strike. Blinding streaks of brilliance illuminate the night. Will it reach me in the darkness with its fury and its pain? Will it spark the understanding? ("Rain," Freddy Jones Band)

11) People in every direction - no words exchanged, no time to exchange them ("Ants Marching," Dave Mathews Band, [livejournal.com profile] quantumduck)

12) White shores are calling; you and I will meet again ("Into the West," Annie Lennox, [livejournal.com profile] princejvstin)

13) Ever had the feeling, almost broke in two? Said that you were leaving, like you do. You do? ("Be Near Me," ABC, band gotten by [livejournal.com profile] bibulb, song gotten by [livejournal.com profile] follybard)

14) Holy Lady, show me my soul; tell me of that place where I must surely go. Old man waiting at the gates for me, give me the wisdom, give me the key! ("House of Stone and Light," Martin Page)

15) And you know for a million years he has been your father; he'll be a million more ("Greenman," XTC, [livejournal.com profile] quantumduck)

16) I stand alone out on the road; I know my flesh will rot. But the renegade and crazy free will not be forgot! ("You Can't Kill Me," Mojo Nixon, and there are several of you who should have gotten this!)

17) Look straight at the coming disaster; realize what you've lost. ("Horseshoes," Moxy Fruvous, [livejournal.com profile] bibulb)

18) Sadness is hanging there to show Love somewhere something needs a change. ("They'll Need A Crane," They Might Be Giants, [livejournal.com profile] follybard)

19) So wild, so free, so far from me - you're all I want, my fantasy . . . ("Photograph," Def Leppard)

20) Caught between the supplier only dreaming of money and the demand of the man with the money who needs a little help to dream. ("Obvious Song," Joe Jackson, [livejournal.com profile] bibulb)

Oooh, shiny!

4 - Save It For Later, English Beat (the guessing of which feels almost like cheating, as I think you're the one who turned me on to this song in the first place!)
7 - Ana Ng, They Might Be Giants
18 - They'll Need A Crane - They Might Be Giants

...and I feel like I oughtta know 12, 13 and 17 as well, but they haven't quite popped out yet....

Well, #12 has been gotten - I'd be surprised if you hadn't at least heard #13 and #17, but I don't know if I'd expect you to know them well enough to know the lyrics.

This one should be everybody's credo, and I'm sad that more people can't spot it from twenty paces.

Three for three, so far.

You didn't screw anyhitng up. It was a good reading. It was agood reading of an odd situation. I didn't like the complete lack of a definitive deliniation of WHICH freakin' stance I should take on various issues. Then again, that's not what cards do. ;-)

13 - right band, wrong song. Anyone else want to guess on that one?

I'm expanding the quotes for the ones that haven't been gotten yet - everyone who's guessed so far should have a shot at at least one of the remaining ones.

13 - "Be Near Me," ABC.

Got it as soon as I saw the extra bit. And now it's gonna be stuck in my head all day. :)
