Does this dress make any sense to anyone else? It seems both immensely unflattering (to the point that I can't imagine a frame it would do anything for) and rather impractical to me, but maybe I'm just not getting it.

Huh. Well, I like the body of the dress and I like the kimono sleeve, but I don't like them together. And I especially don't like how you only get ONE sleeve. So you're either too hot or too cold. Dress fail.

I'm sure I know someone who could wear this without looking silly . . . but I can't think of who it would be.

So your design is due in the morning, and you have spent most of the night drinking. This is how you turn in your work.

I assumed it was some sort of superhero costume design. Although it lacks room for the Most Common Super Power (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MostCommonSuperPower).

Almost looks like something designed for conjoined twins. With relatively little modification, it could be.

I kinda like it, but then again I like asymmetry and nonsense and suchlike in fashion. It looks very Japanese-inspired to me. Looks okay on that model, but I grant that it probably would be unflattering on many if not most people.

Yeah, I am ALL ABOUT this look - once we do away with the terrible stripes in the example. Asymmetrical with Kimono sleeves and a completely wild silhouette? I was charmed.

I would wear the hell out of that dress, especially during Mardi Gras season. Would it look good? Who cares! I'd wear it with mucho style.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. I really want one of them.

I want a sundress, and I want to be a matador.

Or...I have enough fabric for the body and one sleeve. F it. I have a deadline.

It is indeed rather whack. Sort of like something I'd expect to see on a Takarazuka stage.

On the subject of strange clothing, does anyone know what what this (http://www.womanwithin.com/clothing/Lingerie-skirt-With-Satin-Bow-by-Amoureuse.aspx?PfId=168439&DeptId=9600&ProductTypeId=1) is? or WHY it is?

Two options:
A) Seduction wear that covers a part of the body that the wearer may be nervous about.

B) Burlesque costume.

I've actually seen one in action as a burlesque costume, and it was stunning. There was a glitter packet tucked under the waistband that showered the first row with happy when the skirt came off to reveal some cute studded underpants.

On the other hand, I really like New Orleans burlesque so my bias is making these memories go all misty and sweet.

Looks like it's supposed to be vintage-inspired lingerie or some such.

It reminds me of the woman with water urn spilling down.

I think the sleeve isn't designed correctly, it should have the formalized pleats and NO HORIZONTAL stripes. Really, no stripes. Maybe a greek key hem?

And, there should be a way to decorously pull the sleeve around the back and over the other arm like a shawl.
