Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] solidfoamsoul:

Step 1 - Set your iTunes to shuffle
Step 2 - Post the first lines from the first 20 songs that play
Step 3 - Let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from
Step 4 - Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly

I'm screening replies so multiple people can score on the same song. Also, I used the first line of the first verse if the song started with the chorus, and I skipped the second song by a previously represented artist twice.

Three points! The last is actually Ceili's Muse's version, but it's the same song.

Two points, of course. Glad someone got the Weird Al!

Depends on whether you think Weird Al counts as filk - it's one of his parodies. But you got which song he was parodying dead on. :-)

No guess for the artist? Okay, I know this one's been covered ad nauseum.

Three and a half points to you! Sure, I'll take Gaelic Storm as a valid artist on that one - I was playing the Ceili's Muse version.

In the lead with four points, and can I just say, hurrah for someone else knowing a Bruce Cockburn song other than [livejournal.com profile] bassfingers or [livejournal.com profile] bibulb! (And the Paula Abdul can be our secret shame together. That song got me through the three weeks immediately after our house fire.)

Pitching cleanup :

4. "Where the Hell's My Money", by Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper, kicking ass and taking names

18. "Highway to Hell", by AC/DC
(Nobody else got this one? REALLY?)

19. "Run Straight Down", by Warren Zevon

I'd have also gotten 17, 13 and 7 - the rest, not so much...

(As it turns out, I knew 3, but was unsure enough that I had to Google it to be sure - which kinda breaks the rules...)

Three points - (a) yeah, I was surprised about #18 as well, (b) I figured #4 was a giveaway for the artist, and (c) I'm a little surprised you didn't get #6.

I actually have three Cockburn songs on the iPhone (which of course is back at the apartment while I'm at work, dammit): "Wonderin'", "The Coldest Night of the Year", and "Lord of the Starfields".
