A Bed of TAKS
Apr. 28th, 2004 08:54 pmToday was the third of the four TAKS subject tests. I have gotten nothing useful done for the past two days (except get a few more inches done on the shawl during my pseudo-break). The good news is that there's only one more day of this, and the scheduling breakdown that happened on the English day mostly didn't happen this time.
My Mu Alpha Theta officers have been giving me shit all this semester. This Monday they sent me a really offensive e-mail, basically saying that if they felt like spending the entire treasury of the club on this year's banquet, then that's what they were going to do, dammit, and since this was a student-run organization, there was nothing I could do about it. Oh, but I shouldn't worry, since they were going to "recognize" me at the banquet. I mean, what the fuck, guys?! If you think my price is a bouquet of flowers, you have got another think coming, dudes! Then they completely and totally failed to get the paperwork turned in on time, so I called them on the carpet, made them reschedule, and ended up losing my composure completely when they tried to argue with me. I think this is like the third time this year I've cried at a student . . . And that acted as emotional blackmail on them, of course, which was not my intent. :( They tried to call and ask to not reschedule the banquet last night, on the grounds that my President thought he could sweet-talk the school bookkeeper into getting the check cut in 24 hours instead of the usual 72, but by that point I was already asleep. At least they apologized to the Spouse for calling so late.
I'm beginning to wonder how much of my emotional swings this semester have been at least partially due to sleep deprivation. (This is, of course, a vicious cycle - I lose sleep over things when I'm upset, naturally.) I've been pretty consistently getting six hours of sleep or fewer a night, and while I can function like that for a few days, I really need seven to function on a regular basis. (The sex deprivation doesn't help much, either, although the Spouse has been much better about that this semester than last. Then again, getting one means I don't get much of the other . . .)
I'm almost ready to start recruiting for my next GURPS game. If I get enough time to polish stuff up over this next weekend, expect news on that this coming Monday or Tuesday. Also, I'm brewing a Big Eyes, Small Mouth one-shot for sometime during the week
memeslayer is in town, on the "first hit's free" principle - anyone who might be interested in that, let me know; the more the merrier.
