Cracked's Top 5 Pre-Internet File-Sharing Panics is pretty amusing, especially the Fred Rogers vs. Jack Valenti showdown on the first page. (And, as a French Horn player, anything that lays the smack down on Sousa makes me happy.)

<3 Mr. Rogers totally just gained a whole bunch of respect from me after reading that.

(I've heard of him, honestly -- I just never got a chance to see him in action, but... it's kinda neat to hear stuff like this. xD)

Oh, wow, culture shock - I guess Mr. Rogers is just a US phenomenon, huh? I can't imagine growing up without him.

Hee, yes. Sorry, Omorka-San. Although we at least had Sesame Street here. But no Mister Rogers, sadly. Shame, he seems like a nice bloke from what I've read.

I only ever watched a few episodes of Mr. Rogers, but I loved that entry the most, too. Couldn't stand the guy when I was little, since I thought he was terrifying. Him, and those puppets.

He was an adult male role model who showed children of both genders that men didn't have to fight or shout to be noticed or powerful, and that every child is worth noticing and hearing. We've not seen his like since.

I've seen some of the exported Sesame Streets. Fraggle Rock, too, if I'm remembering correctly. Jim Henson's another one we've not seen the equal of. *sigh*
