And so, the time has come for me to face the fact that my toenails really are that discolored and I need to do something about it. Unfortunately for my persona as a mild-mannered educator, I cannot abide painting my nails any shade of pink, red, or the other standard nail polish shades. The last time I did it, I used a pearlescent sage green polish; I still have some of that, and I impulse-bought a shiny metallic bright purple the other day. I can get some other similarly interesting shades this weekend, if I really want.

Date: 2008-09-10 05:01 am (UTC)I think that whatever color you pick, it should be fairly light and preferably pearlescent; I'd be really tempted to go with silver, pale shimmery gold, or a strongly-iridescent white. I don't know why this strikes me as less likely to freak the mundanes than a darker color, but it does.

Date: 2008-09-10 06:54 am (UTC)For me, RED is the way to go, the only way to fly! But for you, I'm thinking that dark purple sounds awfully nice...you will know, even if no one else does, that your toenails are gorgeous.
They won't look like you did them yourself, if that is really a worry, after a bath. The excess comes right off. Pedicures are nice and indulgent, and I recommend them for a pamper, but certainly not necessary! Use some nice cream, make them all soft, and paint away. And enjoy knowing you did it just for you!
