Tonight's Menu
May. 10th, 2008 12:50 amSouthern-Fried Chicken
Mashed Potatoes
Collard Greens
Baking Powder Biscuits
- and -
Fresh Brewed Iced Tea
Man, am I a product of my upbringing or what? The curious thing is that I would never have gotten exactly this meal in any of the households I regularly ate in growing up - my mother never made collards (and her biscuits were these weird loaf-like things, although they were tasty enough), my maternal grandmother never made collards or biscuits, and my paternal grandmother's cook might very well have made any two of the above at any given meal, but never the whole set together - I think she felt that biscuits were breakfast food, and if you had biscuits, potatoes weren't necessary.

(Edited because I can't spell)
