In the midwest I learned to associate spring with tiny frogs signing loudly in the trees and around swamps. By July the frogs and toads were quieter, and the insects got deafening. Oh, and by May the lightning bugs would start to come out.
We're firmly into May in Houston so I'd have to say it's most definitely into my conception of Summer. I think of May, June and July as Summer - although so are August and September. Fall runs from mid-September to the end of November. December and January are winter (such as it is.)
