For your perusal: the anti-color-blindness test.

I can't see the first one on this monitor at all. Even knowing what to look for, I can barely see one edge. I could sort of see the second one, but not well enough to tell it wasn't as complex as I was trying to make it; knowing what I'm looking for, I can make it out fine, but I suspect if I went back to it after a few days I'd have almost as much trouble as I did the first time.

I think I've mentioned that both my brothers are red-green color blind, as was my maternal grandfather, which means my mother is a carrier. I have worried for a while that I might be a carrier as well (a silly thing to worry about, considering that my chances of reproducing are only slightly higher than a snowball's chance in hell). This suggests that I am not, or at least, if I am, my X-mosaic is such that neither retina is expressing that particular gene.

Fascinating. After looking for more than a minute I thought I saw the hidden patterns, but in each case I had missed things about the shape. The color=object identification software embedded in most humans is very hard to hack. Even once I know what to look for I don't see all of each one.

The first one was interesting, and told me two things : the viewing angle for this computer's monitor isn't so great, and it's tilted slightly wrong. I could see the bottom of the number, but it faded into the gradient. However, if I stood up and looked down at the image, the pattern became much clearer. (And if I pulled myself down to look at the image from below, the gradient swallowed everything.)

The second one I couldn't see even with trying that trick.

If I *stand up* and look down at the screen such that the angle between the line from screen to eye and the face of the screen is about 10°, I can just barely see the left half of the first one. I still can't see the right half. This does not happen at any other angle, greater or lesser.

I am tempted to try it on your screen and see if there's a visible difference . . .

I on the other hand can see both patterns just fine. The 2nd was a little harder to see at first but that could be that my monitor needs calibrating I think.
Personally I could live with not being able to see it if I could just see the world in the full spectrum instead of having 256 color eyes.

My experience with the top one is almost identical to bibulb's. On the second image, I could see something, but not force it into a pattern (I was also having difficulty in that it looked more complicated than the actual pattern).

I could see both patterns just fine, though the upper left quadrant of the first one was difficult...but since I could tell from the rest of the image what that quadrant was supposed to be, I could just barely make it out as well.

I had to look for a few seconds and the second one, but then I found it and now it stands out pretty obviously.

I'm not colorblind. Not sure what this means about my vision (or my laptop monitor?).
